About

Loop & Lark is a beginner-friendly crochet blog with one job: helping you learn to crochet with confidence, one stitch at a time.

Every tutorial here starts from zero. No assumed knowledge, no skipped steps, and no jargon without a plain explanation. Whether you just bought your first hook or you are picking crochet back up after years away, you will find clear, practical guides that show you exactly what to do with your hands at each step.

What you will find here

Loop & Lark covers the full beginner crochet journey, organized the way I learned it:

Learn to crochet. How to hold your hook without cramping, how to make a chain that does not twist into a knot, and how to pick a first project you will finish instead of frogging at midnight.

Stitch library. Every essential stitch photographed step by step: chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double, double, treble, and the magic ring that starts every amigurumi.

Granny squares & motifs. The classic square done right, joining methods that lie flat, and blankets built motif by motif.

Amigurumi & toys. Stuffed plushies with no holes, no lumps, and faces that do not slide off.

Garments & accessories. Tops, beanies, scarves, and bags in real sizes, with honest notes on fit and yarn choice.

Honest supply guides. When I recommend a hook, a yarn, or a notions kit, it is because I have researched it properly and I would spend my own money on it. I explain who each pick suits and who should skip it.

About the Author

Hi, I am Wren

I started Loop & Lark for one simple reason: I remember exactly what it feels like to chain fifty stitches, turn your work, and discover you have somehow made a spiral. The diagrams in books assume you already know what you are looking at. The videos move too fast. And every “beginner” pattern somehow assumes you already know five things nobody taught you.

This site is the resource I wish I had. Every tutorial here starts from zero, explains the why behind the how, and shows you exactly what to do with your hands at each step. No skipped steps, no mystery abbreviations, and finished projects you will actually want to keep.
